Implementation period: 16.11.2022 – 16.05.2023
Funded by the Bulgarian Fund for Women
In 2019, the PULSE Foundation launched a series of initiatives aimed at domestic violence, gender-based violence and violence against children in the Kardzhali region. A series of initiatives to the organization formed a volunteer group of local women activists for women's rights, with whom we launched a hotline to support victims of violence and opened a "Trust Room".
The current project is a natural continuation of the activities at the local level to increase knowledge, awareness, and sensitivity about women's rights in the Kardzhali region. This project focuses on a local group of women activists who raise revolutionary topics for the region - such as a woman's right to continue her education, protection from violence, the right to refuse marriage...
The activities in this project are aimed at training and empowering local women leaders to bring to the general public and local institutions the topic of gender equality and protecting women from violence, as well as providing direct support to women and girls who are affected by or at risk of violence.
Main goal of the project:
This project aims, by developing the capacity and potential of local women leaders from the Kardzhali region, to raise public awareness on the topics of gender-based discrimination and violence, gender equality, feminism in the region, as well as to develop and establish services for counseling and support for women and girls who are affected by or are at risk of violence.
Activities in the project are conditionally divided into three groups:
- Activities to support victims of violence, women and girls.
- Activities for the general public and institutions
- Community activities - discussions and conversations with women in Kardzhali and the region.
Within the framework of the project, a series of discussions and meetings with representatives of institutions will be held. Victims of violence will have access to free psychological and legal consultations.
